Another way to think of this is: "Currently 99.9% of the world's internet users are captured by proprietary systems like Facebook and X and YouTube, and are treated like slaves. What actions can we take to actually inspire people to move off of those systems on to a better system?" -- IMO one thing we can do is provide a way to onboard those users onto Nostr and show them how they can be compensated (via zaps) for their work. Down the road, some of those users might set up their own Lightning node, or etc., which would be awesome. But if you plunk your average user down in front of something like this.. https://docs.megalithic.me/lightning-user-vs-lightning-runner/prerequisites (and these our OUR docs!) ... 99% of users will give up and go back to being abused by Instagram...
Yes, there are definitely sovereignty tradeoffs in Lightning. If you want to run everything on your own hardware, and your hardware is (for example) behind a residential internet connection, and/or TOR, then zaps and other Lightning payments might be slow to confirm -- but maybe you're OK with that.
Regarding marketing and etc. -- the first version of our homepage yielded widespread complaints about "too much information" -- so we moved the detailed info on our node-in-the-cloud service to here: https://rizful.com/node_in_the_cloud ... there are tradeoffs to make we have learned not only in "how should I get my zaps" but "how can we introduce new users to Nostr and zapping without immediately scaring them away with complicated stuff."
Discussion
What makes you think I personally need to be onboarded onto Nostr? My guess is you dont think that, and this post is for other people to see. Comes off as disingenuous.
