Local taxes definitely make more sense than federal ones, but property tax is coerced rather than voluntary, and if the govt can put a lien on your place if you don't pay the tax, it essentially means that you never full own property.

You don’t own your property. The government own everything inside its borders, including you! Your social security number is a serial number. I’d you don’t think so, try to renounce your citizenship and they’ll hit you with a 50% exit tax on everything you own!
