Notifications are a PITA, especially on mobile. One reason is that there can be so many different layers of them (contact, app, OS, hardware, network etc), all controlled in different Settings/ Preferences control panels, accessed in different places. I have a HX (Human eXperience) suggestion for mobile OS designers on one way to reduce this frustration.

Imagine an interface where I can control all the notifications on a device, from the notifications control panel in the system settings. So when I install an app, it gives the system a way to alter its notification options. It can have its own notifications controls in its own settings panel too, no problem. But when I go to system settings > notifications, I see a list of all apps with notification permissions. Clicking on an app name allows me to modify the notification from there.
