How is it centralising, if I am leaving a note and if others find it helpful they bump it up? Sure it can be bumped up through circle jerking too, but so could comments, so is do nothing the better way?

It opens the door for manipulation. There are multiple scenarios independently of how you implement it. If a bad character or group wants to manipulate the narrative it will be able and claim that the "community has spoken", hard pass!
