We know that #OpenSats grant-recipients have to write up progress reports, but does anyone audit the reports?

If so, why is the software delivered so often buggy?

If not, what is the point of the reports?

AFAIK the reports go to a blackhole for recordkeeping just in case opensats itself is audited

Or continuous improvement? Get it out amongst developers and users for testing and debugging. Thus people can get something immediately instead of waiting for some optimal software release that never happens. "Premature optimization is the root of all evil" and all that.

A protocol that only exists as a succession of buggy prototypes. Okay.

Actually seems to be preempting real innovation because there's now a growing cadre of people with no profit motive throwing out half-assed concepts, thereby entrenching inefficient ideas because they raise the cost of implementing a competing concept.
