What type of plants you interested in growing? Shrubs or garden veggies?
I don't think the cloth pots are too much money. Don't know how long they last either.

Usually perennial plants, mulberry, blackberry, yeah those might be a good idea. I tried a pillowcase last summer, disintegrated pretty fast in the water.
