I don't know if Istria is like Dalmatia, but the amount of cats I found everywhere roaming on the streets (well, mostly not roaming, but chilling under the sun) was remarkable. 
Motovun is almost as far north as Italy, but very similar with the cat scene. They’re all over the town and harassing tourists for handouts in the cafes.
I feel like I would love to visit this village 😍
It’s quite lovely. It was abandoned after ww2 and a bunch of artists took it over and revitalized it. Now mostly tourist art, but it still has a charm.
