but with QC its a little different because they announce it all the time but it has to do with hardware and not just code like AI

some may announce, we don't know about China. but still, we don't know the exponential jumps, they can announce 500 in one year and we lol, then 10k we lol, and then 700k out of the blue, so probably it won't be linear even if it's hardware it can be exponential. So I think the community should discuss and get a solution ready as soon as possible, and this has many implications, Satoshi coins are vulnerable, block space will probably be less bc of the new txs size.

but companies building 1 million qubits in secret
is just not plausible to me
even the MHz trend of the normal computers
was exponential with doubling every year
you need some time to go from 10 to 1 million
and shouldnt there evolve a market for the qubit chips?
sure it. won't be in one year or two, I just think the risk of sleeping on this is big. the chips market will evolve as soon as it we see the steady evolution still with few qbits, then the market will probably also become steady and be able to provide easily if required for an exponential jump. But all this is just my opinion, I have no expertise in QC.
