Last night I watched the 60 minutes episode about the 3D printed houses.

WTF, is that stuff for real? And they want to use it to build on the Moon and Mars. And they want AI to build design and build houses.

The future is now? What do you all think?

absolutely. awesome stuff

Why not? If itโ€™s that much easier to 3d print - go for it.

Link, please?

Murdered in modern sense which worse than corporate sabotage.

3D printed houses are just machines shoving concrete on the ground based on some pattern. Not scalable. AI is nowhere near capable of managing it.

I'm far from being an expert but they claimed that besides the machines (fixed cost), it was much cheaper.

Makes sense because people are hugely expensive.

The tricky part of building on the Moon or Mars is finding a way to replace the water component in building materials.

On the other hand, why do we need houses on the Moon? There's no weather to protect us from, except solar radiation. This can be easily mitigated by aluminum foil, which is much lighter to transport than heavy 3D house printers and the additional materials needed to make the lunar sand sticky.

On Mars, it's a bit different. The sandstorms can easily blow away aluminum foils. Instead of printing houses, I would rather dig underground since there are no concerns about your underground apartment getting flooded by rain on Mars.

There can be water underground on mars which would makeunderground liiving problematic ๐Ÿ˜…

Be realistic, don't you want a swimming pool in the next cave entrance from the sauna cave?

I'm sure heat would also be a factor. Apparently Mars does have enough of an atmosphere that you can fly a propeller driven drone.
