I'm in Adelaide CBD and it has exploded in homeless folks. Pretty sad considering how much "better" (for lack of better words) the homeless in Aus have it compared to the US. There are a lot more welfare programs here to aid the homeless and help give them shelter, food, job opportunities, etc than America.

Though, I understand why, as literally everything costs more now. Rising rents, food, petrol, clothes, etc commodities. If someone was already struggling pre-pandemic, they'd be in a world of hurt today.

Keeps me in check to continually realise how fortunate I am, but also how I need to continue trying to move away from such a toxic system while I can still "afford" to do so as my purchasing power erodes.

I’ve noticed this when I’ve been in the CBD too recently. I’ve also see posts on forums asking where is safe to sleep in cars along the beaches and people desperately searching for housing that they can afford. Definitely does make you realise how fortunate you are.

That's pretty dire, bad times.
