I was here trying to remember where I once read he was the pioneer in dytopian sci-fi, it was wikipedia "Along with Jack London's The Iron Heel, We is generally considered to be the grandfather of the satirical futuristic dystopia genre. ". Yes, there are Utopia writers in the past, as such as you mentioned, Thomas More, Francis Bacon (Plato wrote a sort of Utopia) and more recently H.G. Wells, etc, all of them before WE... Imo WE goes another brand new way

Lander. I apologise if you think I was correcting or dissagreeing with you. I wan not at all. I was just adding more information to what you posted. I totally 💯 that 'We' ia unique part and subgenre of the larger 'dystopian genre'. They all have a unique and original take on the societal, which is one reason it's my favourite genre of literature. I also appreciate sci-fi and fatasy especially the art.
🫂❤️ no need at all to apologize ever, what you said is absolutely correct, it's not the first dystopian book, but starts a sub genre in sci-fi. Plato's Republic is a dystopian (for us, utopian for them) book. Keep adding relevant information my friend, and don't ever worry about hurting any feelings here 🙂
And please, don't refrain to correct me any time you think I'm wrong 🙂🙏
