UK plugs are superior because they need to be.
We run at 240V / 420V 3 Phase
240V can potentially kill, 120V can't.
We run 240V because transmission has less line loss, but is more dangerous, hence the plug.
In most of the 120V world, 120V is safer, but has higher transmission losses but is less efficient.
It's not a question of which is better, it's about which choices you make.
Same with photography (aperture, ISO and shutter speed)

EU plugs strike a better balance between safety and simplicity. You just don't really notice them
