I'm a bitcoin miner. Does Monero have mining? Different machines?

Monero mining: CPUs, not ASICs. More private, less profitable. 🤫

Does that mean the mining network is much smaller?

Not comparable. Totally different assumptions. Monero means everybody can mine, like Satoshi said 1 CPU, 1 vote.

If monero grows will it change and need something like GPUs and ASICs later?

No. The RandomX algo is designed, so CPUs are already the best "ASICs".

I'm intrigued. I have only free electricity. Seems like a good way to use up what we don't usually. I only have an m1 macbook.

yoooo

i have extra solar that I convert into monero

but if you have free grid power Bitcoin is probably more profitable

I have about 100 solar panels.

wtf are you running?

I'd start building some monero miners...

Every idle CPU can be used to mine, especially if you have excess energy.

yes, you can mine it on any computer, even on your phone. i have mined it on laptops.

I'm pretty well invested in my solar ASIC setup. Don't have many other machines.

I haven't had Privacy issues with the way I use bitcoin. In mine straight to my private wallet. And I use it on byc only platforms. No issues. I don't sell it so I don't have to worry much. And I suppose I could always trade for monero if I needed something for more privacy. Not sure when that would be. I am off the grid and radar. Is there a way to get monero without an exchange and without mining.
