Every 16-18 days we are hatching 30-40 Quail. We have a small 4 tier rack in our garage that house roughly 50 quail. We gather about 40 eggs per day (3 quail eggs equal 1 chicken egg). We feed our dogs any excess males that get culled. We spend roughly $20 a month on feed for the quail.

You don't need a huge amount of land to be more self reliant, you just need to have the will to do it.
