Most relays are hosted on AWS or similar clouds. You can rent a few GPUs or cheap VPS bots and DDoS the major ones all day. There’s no serious uptime guarantee, no real resistance infrastructure yet. People claiming #nostr is “safe” from what’s happening with X are delusional.
It’s not censorship-resistant just because it can be. Right now, it’s fragile - dependent on centralized hosts, volunteer ops, and duct-taped relays.
But in due time, it may grow to the as strong and resilient as the Bitcoin network itself.
Stop comparing nostr to Bitcoin.
They’re not the same thing and they never will be. There is zero economic incentives running nostr!
There are privacy alternatives for hosting (like nostr:nprofile1qqszdzu53dd2kjatpe2rpmjfu08lz9mkeuvrm7fmxg2el9nsa42pf9gpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz8thwden5te0dehhxarj9e3xjarrda5kuetj9eek7cmfv9kz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucn89uhccw4k), but most people still choose AWS for some reason.
