Serious question... mempool space is just as scarce as the quantity of bitcoin.

What happens if mempool never clears, fees go way up and many people have sats on the base layer and they won't/can't move cuase the fees are too damn high?

Although lagging, scaling tech puts downward pressure on fees. Even if the mempool never clears no one has enough Bitcoin to keep fees high forever

Also mempool space is not the same type of scarcity as the 21 million hardcap. It can be thought of as a commodity instead, but blockspace continues infinitely.
