Of course, that doesn't mean they automatically get to influence the project direction and compromise its values. However, as far as self-hosting on minimal/budget systems goes, #chatmail wins.

Also, SimpleX plans to integrate #cryptocurrency (like #SessionMessenger did) in the future so that will add more complexity.
