Canceling my bounty for a marketplace. I should have had an expiration date. 🤦♂️
Nobody has delivered on the vision / requirements but I’m happy to see some progress in other areas.
I don’t think the bounty system is all that great 😔
Sats will be directed towards other nostr projects or zapped to people contributing to current projects (to be determined).
What do you think makes the bounty system not that good/suitable?
From a person pursuing the bounty perspective, there are some unknowns like - who else is working on this thing? Am I wasting my time? What if they “beat me to it”?
I’ve had a few people talk it up with me only to not really take it anywhere because they thought the bounty would have been completed by someone else, except it wasn’t.
Then some people saw some other marketplace-ish ideas, and thought it was done too - but none of those things met the requirements (not even close).
Besides this, I am not sure if bounties can inspire the right level of commitment needed to complete them. Maybe small bounties, sure, but larger projects tend to need more organization and cooperation vs competition. You need a team of people to tackle them, but that means they also have to be worth it (larger than what they typically tend to be in payout). It ends up being too much work for 1 person and not worth it for teams of 2+
At least that is my assessment.
It seems like many of those could actually be solved by having a better, more thoroughly thought out bounty platform 🤔

Are there any good market places here so far ? I can’t imagine it being too hard to create given all the fundamentals are available. I think this would be a very useful app to have on Nostr
#[3] is building some version of pay gated platform but I don’t think it has anything to do with nostr (correct me if im wrong) I don’t think it’s browse-able e it either? 🤷♂️

I think someone is already working on the Marketplace client, Goodstr. It seems to still be under development.
Zapit.live functions more as a easy-to-use portable marketplace for both digital and physical goods.

Additionally, you can manage/edit these marketplaces in your Zapit dashboard. Now it also supports split payment.
Still working on it, will add some new features in the future.
The Nostr-based Zapit Marketplace version is ready, and it is currently being tested by some individuals.
After conducting further tests, I will proceed with integrating it. The existing marketplaces will be automatically updated, and every future Nostr Marketplace client will be able to access them.
I'm being cautious as I don't want to mess this up. 😂
My experience is bounties don't work. It's better to put out a description for a small amount of work, like a day or two's worth and then accept bids. Perhaps if you can put out a compelling case for the work and include a fee for yourself it might get funded on geyser.
