I never understood this argument because that's not how currencies work. Will they use the aircraft carriers to force people to use the US dollar?!

No, they use their aircraft to suppress countries and leaders like Saddam Hussein or Muammar Gaddafi. For ordinary people, it's enough to put you in jail if you don't pay your taxes.
