I agree, Russia has a really strong folklore about being a "glorious nation", "Russia has no borders" and this kinda crap, on top of that they've never seen anything close to democracy, basically just hoping from one tyrannical regime to another ever since the country came to be. They will be violent and expansionist no matter what.
