I just restarted my node, while that process is happening what...uhh... what happens to my lightning channels? I clearly can't get a zap but, like, do my channels get eliminated and the lightning balance shot back to on-chain?
Just new to it all.
your channels are now marked as offline with your channel partners. they will reconnect and be active again once your node is fully back up and running. there is a small chance that one of them could close, and if that happens, you'll eventually have those funds depostied back into your on chain wallet. but a simple reboot should not trigger that response.

If it's a short restart the channels should be fine. If you go down for an extended period, then you are at rush of your channel partner force closing the channel. Then you would end up getting your Bitcoin back in your on chain wallet.
Good to know, I hadn't thought twice when I did it but I will say... having Nostr here to bounce questions off of is outstandingly helpful!
Wow, node was down for literally like an hour or so as I futzed around and the channels stayed alive! LIGHTNING WORKS YOU GUYS
