What are some other #FOSS #art tools for computer that people like? #asknostr

Main things I want it to be decent and user-friendly at (probably all very common now but just making sure):

- cropping (easy)

- area selection with adjustable tolerance

- turning something messier into something neater (e.g., scanned sketched lines into solid black lines)

- adjusting contrast and hue

- making areas transparent

- layers

- resizing and compressing

- simple drawing tools (just solid brush shapes, any feathering to them able to be turned off)

GIMP is a good one. Although I personally find it confusing.

GIMP is an artists program made for the logic of a programmer.

Those are two VERY different kinds of people.

Yes.

Ive used it for many years.

Even for professional work.

Between Rawtherapee, GIMP with GMIC, and Inkscape, there is not much you cant do.

Gimp starts with most options showing. This is why it confuses normies who are used to (and prefer) people making decisions for them 🤓

You can start in Edit>Preferences>Tools and hide a lot of stuff to make it cleaner.
