In modern storytelling the hero is simply the character through whose point of view the story is told. It’s less a judgment on their character. The audience can be sympathetic to the worst character traits simply by seeing life through their perspective.

Tony Soprano, Walter White, etc. all horrible characters. I guess that’s what the word protagonist is for! 🤣😂🤣😂
