I liked it better when you checked in, in person.

I was polite, friendly & was nearly always issued an emergency exit isle (i'm 6'4).

Nowadays I consider myself somewhat lucky to get an isle or window seat.

Ahh, so you get it.

I tell people I'm 5'17" and that "no, I don't play basketball, I ride horses" when they ask the two questions lol.

I used to fly a lot. In college I bought a $10 knee brace from the campus pharmacy and medical supply store and only wore it when I was flying. I always flew Southwest Airlines because their flights were the cheapest.

It's open seating so my move was to act like I needed to pre-board by limping and having the knee brace on. Then, once I got down to the plane I told the flight staff that since I was tall, the people at the gate said i could go snag an emergency exit row before they all get taken and usually they were 100% cool with that.

Once, I did the tall guy version of the 3 stooges peeking out from behind a wall to assess the availability of emergency exit row seats. One of the flight attendants saw me peepin and signaled to me that she would hold one of those emergency exit row seats for me. Best flight attendant ever.

🤣 yeah - can totally relate.

I have a very bumpy skull from constantly cracking my head on things.

It takes a while for a kid to adjust to that crazy quick growth spurt. I was too uncoordinated to be great a basketball. Dribbling was my weakness but I could consistently get the rebound.
