Dont think I would ever identify myself as a polymath. But I have learning and diving deep intomany different subjects.
The modern world pushes us to specialise into one specific field. I think thats why many people through their whole life without ever asking themselves how the monetary system works.

I feel like 'polymath' is similar to 'philosopher' in that it's best used to describe someone who is dead. Someone living claiming such a title is almost assuredly a narcissist.
I agree with you though. Specialization is what we are pressured to do, but it doesn't give me much satisfaction. There's so much to learn and to do. I'd rather be someone with a hundred hobbies or side adventures than someone who only knows and thinks about one topic.
