Nicely done. I have about 7.1kW of capacity at my house with 16 deep cycle marine batteries for when the sun goes down.

What’s the life of those batteries in years, or discharge cycles?

Depends on several factors including how often and completely you discharge them… but usually around 10 years.

In super optimal circumstances they can last 15-24 years depending on the model. I use rolls battery from Canada.

Are you fully off grid?

That house is, yes. With a backup generator in the event the batteries discharge too much in the night. It’s several miles away from the nearest paved road.

Saw the place and just had to have it. The best part is it’s paid for.

Did you buy land and build the home?

Actually no. The place was built in 1999. I’m the third owner. It needed a bit of work and that took a minute but we got the major stuff fixed last month.

How did you know that was the place?
