are websites just bad agents? like. going on a website to make a booking at a restaurant via a booking platform is just a primitive agent. will websites start to just be ai agents? I am considering rebuilding my private jet company website as just a travel agent that handles every aspect of the booking all the way through to payment. seems like a better ux to me...

I don’t remember the last time I read a website’s copy other than where I work because I designed it. Websites still serve a purpose but it’s increasingly a smaller one I think. I find most of the info I need now with LLMs.
exactly, but then domain specific LLM's that handle domain specific problems will own those domains. Private jets as an example, there are very domain specific flows...
- user requests quote
- agent needs to determine aircraft positioning to determine where to efficiently request quotes from
- email operators (human operators) wait for response
etc.
it's an exciting epiphany honestly. there is so much up for grabs.
what we know as websites today are little more than slightly interactive brochures. VERY soon it will just be agents. And the most efficient agents in any specific domain will win.
Cool!
I tend to agree. Personally I’ve stopped paying attention to websites for my personal usage long before LLMs were a thing. But, I do pay a lot of attention because I design websites too and have done so in the past - again, mostly for work and for profit. I imagine much of this is going to change.
