It’s quite the opposite. Romanians are among the most freedom loving and vigilant folks that remained in EU.
I would expect that based on their past experience with totalitarianism. However, their political landscape seems to be captured by EU. Maybe Ceaușescu moment is approaching.
The political landscape across all of Europe is captured by the EU, even in non-EU states. The handouts for shilling Euro-Atlantic values are pretty sweet, or so I hear. The few voices of reason calling bullshit on the whole thing get shoved into a corner, their reputations trashed with fake accusations or half-baked charges, and they never see the inside of a parliament. The ones who do make it in are 99% controlled opposition, just more actors playing their role. But people on the streets know it’s all fake, which you can see reflected in the record-low election turnout in recent years. It’s the same story in Bulgaria, but unlike Romania, we’re the proud record holders of the most armchair rebels, loud as hell on Facebook but nowhere to be found on the streets.
Sad but true. Printing money cost nothing, distributing it recklessly comes with no accountability. Therefore it is easy and cheap to buy politicians for EU. Unfortunately in Poland (and I believe same in most of EU countries) only working class is aware, laptop class (aka educated = indoctrinated ones with fancy titles) still believes the EU's BS.
