Good riddance.
is it safe to open Lightning channels again?
It was always safe to open Lightning channels...
Fees are kind of high at the moment. 10/15/18
There were 1 sat/vB fees in about 9/10 recent blocks.
I’ve noticed it fluctuating a good bit lately. I’ve only recently started studying the Mempool, so still learning. 🤙🏻
There's not much to study. Your tx goes in and waits until inclusion in a block. If your fee is lower than competing tx fees, you wait. If mempool fills up and your fee is too low, you won't be able to enter mempool. If you were already in previously, you aren't likely to actually get dropped since miners keep bigger mempools (> 300 MB).
If you want to pay the lowest fees possible and get in a block in some reasonable time, start at 1 sat/vB and RBF when you feel like you've been waiting for too long.
The key point about the mempool is that it's not a global state -- obvious, if you think about it, because the only consensus is the longest chain, and mempool is by definition not yet on-chain. Every node can manage their mempool independently according to whatever rules they want.
They are paying with real money and can’t made them from air :))
and it wasn't "oH nO wE nEeD a FoRk" bad. smh
I don't know if anyone serious was going straight to a fork, but it was (still is) disappointing to see the number of Bitcoiners who misunderstand the different roles of actors in the network, and what tools they have at their disposal to effect the game theory in different ways.
those ignorant bitcoiners are even bitcoiner in the first place?
the inscriboors will be back. this was just the first wave of technically competent hobbyists and tinkerers.
They realized that they can't sell BS to bitcoiners?
How can you be so sure about that? I still see ridiculously large squares in the blocks at mempool.space. I think if it was over yet, there would be no transactions costing more than 10k sats in each block.
There are always large transactions. Consolidations and payouts, for example. Here's one from last block (777665) that consolidated 500 inputs for 531,102 sat fee.
