what if there would be no "likes", no "followers counts", reposts counts... only just interactions. would we behave different?

Imagine there is no way to know if you have more followers than another person...

I know we tend to use sort of social approvals to find who should we follow. If I get a reply from someone I may check the profile and if that person has tons of followers maybe I should follow too but is that the right behavior? is that enough?

I know it's tricky and it's an easy metric to check manytimes.. I also scan through the most recent posts to see what that person is talking about and whether I'm interested in their feed...

here in Nostr I'm also following many based on followers just because I assume that person is posting frequently so then I get a more busy feed.. but that's just because we are starting here.. not sure that will be the criteria later on

Because who I follow will result in their posts in my feed (which is the intent and purpose of following someone) I look at the last like 5 posts the person made to see if they're worth following.

But I think your method is intended Twitter behavior. I never used Twitter on the regular. Your method is like social approval follow the heard mentality which may very well be the strategy for a successful content creator, but my method is a very selfish "do I want to see this persons posts in my feed" lol.

reason why I did that at the beginning is because most people here were just genuine contributors .. genuine people sharing thoughts, ideas, new products etc and when you don't know who to follow then that's probably where to start if this is a genuine network.

If I go to Twitter with that today I would probably only get influencers so that's not the metric anymore

Well said I’m not here for popularity never was good at that aspect of life. I do see the beauty in this community when it comes to issues and hurdles I have come across in life to find solutions to these problems through Bitcoin… it’s crazy how much one thing can change everything we know to be true or thought to be true.. Nostr helps with free speech for us all to freely communicate without government overreach this is only the start to a global human revolution

Maybe the likes or followers are part of a combination of things that have to change in order to reach a “healthier” social media. Right now content is the most important. What do we read and maybe following people for the interaction itself and not to get more followers or likes

Here I find myself struggling to find users that are not only talking about Bitcoin. Hopefully will find a way to explore other relays and conversations.
