Nostr requires significant more data volume than other social media apps. I suppose, that's s due to the nature of decentralized networks?

Some Nostriches are already willing to pay for spam free Nostrland. They might be willing to pay even more to protect the environment from additional carbon emissions caused by their data traffic?

We all know, Bitcoin besides many benefits does incentives sustainable behavior.

What do you think? Wouldn't that be a successful sales pitch for Relay operators?

I don't think it's a Relay issue. It's a Client one. Relays give Clients what they ask for. Nothing more, nothing less.

Clients are in control of when and how they contact relays. They can, for example, in theory, grow to know which people's posts are likely to be on local Relays, and get them from there, so that when they contact relays further away, they can say "posts by X, but NOT THESE ones, as we have them already".

What's your recommendation to tweak the Relay settings of clients efficiently to achieve specific goals, like:

- maximum global note posting reach,

- minimum overall data traffic,

- fastest note loading for best reading experience.

You can't. The smarts are things that the coders need to do.

For now, join your country relays for speed, and a selection around the world for reach
