I can’t imagine how the custody would work. They plan to start with 3rd party custody and transition to government custody. How could anyone trust government employees with 1,000,000 btc?
My exact thinking as well. Then they’ll say they still have it, but take this CBDC instead.
We underestimate massively how many keys are already lost. Not that much left.
