In response to the looting of at least 23 businesses and widespread vandalism on Sunday and Monday, Mayor Karen Bass has declared a local emergency and imposed a curfew in a limited area of Downtown Los Angeles. The curfew, set to remain in effect for several nights, covers a one-square-mile zone near City Hall and the federal building. It will be enforced from 8:00 p.m. Tuesday until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. “Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew, and you will be prosecuted,” Mayor Bass warned.
