I realize this is just a silly meme
But I have a soapbox
I think civilian concealed carry should generally be in smaller loads than 9mm.
I think 9mm & up makes a lot of sense in law enforcement/military, especially infantry.
The goal is to subdue the enemy, including by poking many large holes and eventually bleeding out. Engagements occur at intermediate distance, possibly involving light cover and often with many rounds discharged. These factors emphasize powder load, caliber, and capacity.
In contrast, civilian encounters generally occur at much closer ranges with no cover and many fewer rounds discharged.
In a civilian encounter the gun needs to function by A) psychology, B) Central Nervous System damage for immediate disablement, or C) Vascular System damage (eg heart, arteries) for rapid disablement. Eventual bleeding out is very unlikely to be a satisfactory resolution. Ease of concealment, accuracy, and suitability for training thus assume greater importance than the ability to project the most energy/diameter of lead downrange.
380 ACP, 38 Sp, and 32 ACP achieve more than adequate penetration to meet FBI standards, particularly in wadcutter or FMJ ball configurations. These weapons are easier/lighter to carry and conceal. Lighter recoil should allow for more accurate following shots and more pleasant training. The actual carry ammunition (being flat/ball) can be fired for practice much more cheaply than premium hollow points and feeds more reliably.
