Need to open the client with a light background instead of defaulting to whatever the user has set on iOS. Easier to get people engaged with brighter backgrounds. If you are lucky to onboard a ‘power user’ he will be inclined to dig into settings to update than someone taking a quick glance.

At least give the option when first starting up.
