Venerable Confessor Sofronie of Cioara, a simple monk, rose as a beacon against forced union with Rome in 1761. Called by the people, he traveled villages, urging steadfastness in Orthodoxy. Despite Austrian threats, thousands gathered to hear him. His arrest ignited peasant revolt in 1759-1761, brutally crushed, yet his spirit lived. Sofronie vanished, his fate unknown, but his legacy endures as a symbol of faith and resistance.

Let us pray to #Sofronie to intercede, that we may be strong in our #Orthodox #Faith, standing firm against the tides of adversity. #Saints #Romania
