Consolidation.
Lots of small regional banks are hard to control.
A few large banks will enable the fiat exits to be completely sealed. Not the primary purpose IMO but a side effect of a consolidated banking system.
Who knows? But banks with a high proportion of non guaranteed deposits (or with high exposure to commercial real estate or long term debt) are those with the highest risk of collapse.
Although it is still a risk trade because the government knows it needs banks so bailouts are not out of question. Neither big consolidations.😐
