Africa is not food secure. Only South Africa exports significant amounts of beef and China is already buying some of that. AUD got beaten up because of the US tariffs on China as you say, but it's also recovered because those tariffs didn't have the desired effect on China

apologies for the confusion: my comment was about China's dependency on AU for iron ore. Via Belt and Road they now have initiatives like Simandou project in Guinea.

Yes AUDUSD got a bit of a bounce over the last week, but the last 6months has been brutal (AUDEUR and USD) based on the first two reasons I mentioned.
