This looks more interesting than follow packs, stealing it!

why do you hate follow packs?

I don’t hate follow packs. I’m still observing.

Since anyone can create follow packs, I think discovering packs might eventually become as difficult as discovering users, especially for new users.

because they will be just spam?

can't anyone also create nip05 addresses?

To me, they’re not the same feature, so I wouldn’t compare them directly.

What I find interesting about the NIP-05 feed is that it aligns really well with the way we browse feeds. When I come across an interesting user, I can click to view their NIP-05 feed and naturally discover other people who are similar, it’s a more serendipitous kind of discovery.

Follow packs, on the other hand, are more suited for when I actively want to find a bunch of new, interesting people. I open the follow packs page with a clear intention and purpose.

do you have examples of people who share the same nip05 domain and also share some characteristics?

damus.io

dergigi.com

As long as the NIP-05 domain doesn’t offer public registration, I believe this characteristic applies. It can be a great way to explore a user’s closer social circle.

LFG

Having a NIP-05 is very low-cost, so it might not be suitable as a method for spam filtering.

I just assume the nameless feed would be more spammy than most/all the NIP-05 feeds until spam filtering itself gets better. But I say a nameless feed is still essential if there are feeds for the names 🤙
