Elements of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group were spotted on satellite imagery earlier today heading southeast in the southern Caribbean. The group includes the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD-28), what appears to be a Henry J. Kaiser–class replenishment oiler, and the M/V Ocean Trader—a heavily modified roll-on/roll-off cargo vessel converted into a special operations command center and “mothership” operated by the U.S. Military Sealift Command (MSC).
