I not sure if people will believe the treats to take their house upon non payment, though.
Of course the same thing would probably happen. Get hate shit talk non stop but if you just slap it on everything people will pay it. Like here awhile back they added a tax surcharge on paint cans. Everyone here is like we hate it wtf yadayadayada but guess what everyone now pays .45 cents on the half pints & 85 cents on every gallon. It is what it id & it's been that way for years. Everyone hates it but it's accepted as thats it.

I don't want to believe it either but a bit of authority + relation can sell anyone on that's how it is. This makes me wonder why do we all get charged internet tax?

i wish I could get a bunch of people in my simplex to discuss things like this. It would be intriguing to have a committee of concerned people willing to blueprint a draft to implementation. After multiple discussions of whatever the problem is.
I'd love to see something similar, too. The network effect threshold is a killer of good ideas. A great filter.
I want to see a higher level macro version of hackerday(.)io, for ideas and organisations, software, as well ... so managers, accountants, socialites, devs, mechanics... can volunteeringly work together
e.g a platform to aid potential startups/organisations made with people with shared interests but with different skill sets, initially working together for free under a banner of a shared goal.
Never seen the site before till now i'd have to look up reviews to see if they are proprietary fans or open source I see gmaps instead of osm. Sounds promising as an idea jist I find it hard to fathom these developers are sitting around waiting to jump on someones idea.
i would like to see an open source modem/router that can be made & programmed to run it's own internet network. Like tor, lokinet, i2p or etc. This modem would be capable of creating an off the grid internet with multiple options to switch between working like a regular internet & cutting off the clear internet completely leaving only access to what is connected in local range or through a protocol which allows each modem/router to communicate with eachother bouncing these off the grid sites to each other & from each other.
That sounds cool. Networking guys in the openWRT community might be up for something like that - if the community is still strong - before there were cheap linux SOMs on the market openwrt SOMs were a good option.
