Who is WoS and what does anyone really know about them?

They're reputable. Have met the creator/owner/maintainer. They are not going to rug you.
Unlike devs of pretty much any other wallet, (including Phoenix) they have never done any interviews or have any other online presence AFAIK.
Also, they also had a hard dependency on Google Play Services last time I checked. There is also now information out saying theirlatedst announcement of them going non-custodial is just a play on words.
