I use a kindle but here is what gpt4o recommends when asked for an open source ereader iOS app

1. **Yomu Ebook Reader**: While not open-source, Yomu is frequently recommended for its clean interface and privacy labels. It supports OPDS catalogs, which can be useful for syncing with Calibre libraries[4][7].

2. **KyBook**: Although not open-source, KyBook is mentioned as a popular choice for reading ePub and PDF files on iOS. It supports a variety of formats and features, but it's worth noting that it has not been updated in several years[5][6].

3. **FBReader**: This app is available on multiple platforms and is known for its versatility. However, it is not specifically mentioned as open-source for iOS, and its iOS version might lack some features available on other platforms[8].

For kindle do you buy books on Amazon or upload your own from something like zlib/calibre?

Ya just drag and drop the books onto the device. I’ve had this kindle forever so I’d check to see if there are better alternatives before getting one. It’s a device that some people buy and never use so used market should have some like new finds.

Alright I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
