There is so much to unpack from this story. I have a tremendous amount of empathy for this man. But, this is once again another reason why programmable money is a bad idea. He clearly has a high IQ and has a tremendous amount of knowledge of bitcoin ecosystem. However, his funds were still stolen. He lives in one jurisdiction, and his funds were stolen in three different countries. What law enforcement agency has the technical and intellectual knowledge to help this young man find justice. I don’t believe that law-enforcement agencies have the technical capability or the intellectual knowledge to solve this case. When you’re working with companies and people from other legal jurisdiction, they have no legal obligation to share any details or any information with a customer or client.
This is where the danger of portability of money is a double edge sword. It’s easy to move, but it’s easy to steal.
The man has been building his entire future for years in hopes of building generational wealth and it was taken from him within hours. So sad.
