Pope Francis has justified himself for his words about "great Russia"

"I spoke of Russia more in a cultural sense than in a geographical sense. What came to my mind was what I was taught at school: Peter I, Catherine II. I wanted to call to adopt this heritage," he was quoted as saying by the ANSA news agency.
