Authoritarianism has consequences.

“For the first time, six fast-growing states in the South — Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee — are contributing more to the national GDP than the Northeast, with its Washington-New York-Boston corridor, based on government figures going back to the 1990s. The switch happened during the pandemic, reports Bloomberg, and shows no signs of reverting.”

Interesting trend. The south will rise again I've heard people say (I'm not sure in what way they meant it) but good for those states I say.

I first wrote “The South’s GDP will rise again,” but thought better of it. The general connotation is negative, as it refers to a time of slavery, but that time is long ago. There are still plenty of “those people” still in the south, but over time, their presence and influence diminishes.

Love to see the Carolinas finally get our due
