Great dogs, I love Bernese. Growing up we always had a big dog around in addition to cattle herding dogs, 2 were St. Bernards, and one was a Bernese.
It's funny, but my pugs attitude reminds me more of those dogs than any other breed. Strong bonding, friendly with other dogs and people, overall calm and quiet dogs. Just 1/10 the size.
My was more the size of a big golden. Small female lol. Great temperament though

The Bernese was a large male, unfixed. I think he weighed about 160ish, stood as tall as I with his paws on my shoulders. His job was guarding the corral area & farm yard from coyotes. Yet he was still gentle with children and other dogs & the farm cats. If I ever have the room I'll get one.
Did you notice any differences between fixed and unfixed as well as vaccinated and unvaccinated dogs?
Farm dogs were never fixed. Increased aggression and size, plus the cattle dogs were for breeding too. They were always vaccinated as well to prevent easily transmissible diseases.
Bernese and st Bernards are such nice dogs. I hope you have the room for one soon.

I want a dog to travel with. One that is protective so it can’t be a small dog but isn’t too difficult to train and won’t freak out like a husky if I have to leave it alone.
