NIP-85 Web of Trust allows you to run your own score provider. Your contacts, your server, your data, and your algorithms. Each user can get a unique algorithm, tweaked to prioritize exactly what they want to see. That’s how we win: by giving users the power to process their own networks on their own machines and their own schedules.

Many providers are coming from our #wotathon. Some are more expansive than others, but in the end, each user decides.

We launched Amethyst without any provider defaults on purpose. Most people won't see scores until they subscribe to a provider they like. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Can you describe how to subscribe and activate it?

Our providers are all offline or not ready at the moment :(

Oh πŸ™†

OK but like, how would this work once it's ready? Is this just going to be a note somewhere that we click on? Is there a preference setting?

It will be a service. So you either subscribe to somebody else's services in their own interfaces or you deploy your own server. Either way, you will need to go to a web page and request the computation

What is a provider?

It's the server that will download all the data and process the scores for you. It can be run by yourself, or by a service you trust.

Ok. There is providers servers implementations repos well known and well used by nostr ecossystem?

Not yet "well used" but there will be.

Ok, but are there any open-source projects that I can download and test? It seems like they're working on that behind the scenes.

can WoT be implemented at the client level and not at relay level?

what clients do have this on mac or iphone?

It would be very limited since the client cannot download the whole of Nostr to process.

But also, this is not in the relay, this is a separate online service from relays. So, you can have a relay with one provider and a trust provider with another provider.

I use UTXO's WoT relay

pardon my ignorance but if you use other non-WoT relays in addition to the WoT relay aren't you in practice not filtering anything at all?

The way how mine works is it sits on top of the other relays and filters them into my WoT

Are you using the proxy relay list on amethyst? It was made for that

No I haven't seen that feature on Amethyst?

On your relay list, if you add any relay on the proxy list, Amethyst will disable the outbox model and load everything from that relay. Just make sure your proxy relay actually have all the data from your follows too.

Ah, I see it now but does it load from the global feed? Where do I go to use it?

It uses everywhere, not only on Global. All chats, marketplace, communities, etc. Everything goes through the proxy. Otherwise each of those gets from relays of those communities, users.

Its working now, Tor was disconnecting my personal relays but its the same feed now as my WoT

understood... but having multiple relays activated (wot and non-wot) seems to me doesn't do anything as you will still see all of the content coming from all the relays?

maybe a nice solution would be to keep all the relays in your access list but have a WoT mode activated on the client where it temporarily removes access to non-WoT relays?

you could manually label which relays are WoT or in the future some standard could identify them so regular users can just activate WoT mode in a simplier manner

Trusted assertions use open relays. The filter, if any, is done by the client. Filtering by relay don't make much sense, IMO, because the wot of the relay is not your custom web of trust. You don't want to be bound by somebody else's algo.

Thank you ser! 🫑

Where can i find this NIP-85? I want to experiment with creating wot providers, but i need to know the specs...

looks neat but why don't you link to this nip?

do you expect free providers to exist and make universal rankings available?

Sure. I am sure they can find some sponsors to buy a score adjustment in the sponsor's favor.

so much negativity

Only when people don't value the work of others.
