It’s colored by the political spectrum but it’s fucking terrifying what YouTube (nominally the world’s leading video repository) does to videos it doesn’t like (even censoring the comments in real time). “Misinformation/community standards violations”. Seen during Covid but even well outside that. Who decides (especially when it turns out not to be misinformation at all?)? Is there any punishment for tech companies that decide to do this?

It is ALSO terrifying people seem to be ok with a lot of this stuff. Either you get the private platform argument or people take the position of like well yeah, tech companies should take down misinformation

Google (which owns YouTube) needs to be fucking put on notice, there should be serious consequences involved in all this

If only for reasons of antitrust lol
