I use a simple color scheme to "link" users and accounts, it takes the first 6 chars non-zero to form the hex color, so an impersonator would not have the same color and would probably be spotted right away. I can identify a bunch of pubkeys just by their color now.

Brilliant. I'm stealing that idea.

I do the same in damus ios dark mode, except I use the tail of the hex pubkey. I also show an icon next to their name if they are friends, friend-of-a-friend, and no icon if they are not followed by anyone I know.

I this can be exploited though.

yeah but they'd have to exploit everything else first also.. I want to expand this by creating a gradient from multiple colors taken from the key, but I haven't started playing with that..

Maybe let us set our own color if we don't like the default. Maybe there's a new replaceable event Alphaama recognizes *wink*

that can happen, but it's unrelated as the impersonator would set the same color..
